Frequently Asked Questions
About Queer Pleasure Collective
-
Queer Pleasure Collective is a Telehealth therapy practice founded by Sam Textor (they/them) — Practice Director, Principal Sexologist and Specialist Social Worker. It's a space for queer folks, fat folks, and anyone the mainstream system has overlooked to access affirming, shame-free support around sexuality, identity, body image, relationships, and mental health.
-
Anyone seeking affirming, shame-free support. Sam has a particular focus on queer and LGBTQIA+ folks, fat and larger-bodied individuals, and neurodivergent people — though all bodies, backgrounds, and relationship styles are welcome. If you're not sure whether this is the right fit, book a free Discovery Call and we can work it out together.
-
No. While queer and fat communities are central to the practice's purpose, Queer Pleasure Collective warmly welcomes people of all sexualities, genders, body sizes, and backgrounds.
-
All sessions are delivered online via Telehealth. You just need a private space and a stable internet connection, and you can access support from anywhere in Australia.
About Therapy
-
Psychosexual therapy is a form of counselling that focuses on sexual concerns, intimacy, and the relationship between emotional wellbeing and sexuality. It's talking-based and never involves physical examination or contact. It can support a wide range of concerns, from sexual pain and low desire, to shame, trauma, identity, and relationship dynamics.
-
Not at all. Many people come to therapy simply wanting to understand themselves better, deepen connection, or explore something they've been curious about. You don't need to be in crisis to deserve support.
-
I take an eclectic, evidence-informed approach; drawing on CBT, DBT, ACT, Narrative Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, Attachment Theory, and more. Each person's experience is tailored to what they actually need.
-
That depends entirely on you and what you're working on. Some people find a handful of sessions really helpful; others prefer ongoing support over a longer period. We'll figure out what feels right together, there's no pressure or predetermined path.
-
Completely understandable, and very common. The free 15-minute Discovery Call is a great way to dip your toe in without any commitment.
